The Veterans Business Outreach Center Program program is a one-stop shop for transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses looking to start, purchase, or grow a business. VBOCs provide transition assistance programs, including nationally acclaimed Boots to Business and Boots to Business Reboot, as well as business development assistance such as training, counseling, mentoring, and resource referrals. The Mid-Atlantic Veterans Business Outreach Center – Empowering Veteran Entrepreneurs serves Pennsylvania residents. The resources below range from local to national in scope, and offer specific opportunities and funding to veteran-owned businesses. There’s also a Government Contracting 101 learning course available through the SBA Learning Center. Public and private certifications are available for veteran-owned small businesses.

Your certification is only valid for a set period of time, and then you’ll have to go through a reverification process. The VA offers free certifications as a VOSB and an SDVOSB, whereas the SBA only offers SDVOSB certification.

Some are open to all small businesses, but others are open only to businesses that participate in SBA contracting assistance programs. In both your personal and professional settings, there are multiple ways to support veteran-owned businesses. Pay attention to social media profiles and web sites that designate a business as veteran-owned. A simple Google search for “veteran-owned businesses in XX ” will provide a number of places to start.
